Be Prepared For Your First Tattoo

You decided you wanted to get a tattoo. You've picked out the place on your body to put it and you surveyed your friends for the least painful spots. Are you nervous about what to expect in the tattoo parlor? I was too. I thought they would be a rude and loud lot but they weren't. The people were nice, respectful and most of all fun!

I don't know what tattoo parlor you have in mind. Each of them are different and will vary from city to city to state to state. I like the ones that are a cross between a 50's diner and an opium den. I like the vintage look to those. The ones who blare out the blues is pretty amazing too. Those are mainly in the South though. Now, let's talk about that tattoo.

The best place to get a tattoo is on the upper arm. It's less painful there unless you're going all the way around the arm like a band. The more sensitive the area the more it's going to hurt when you get your ink. I would suggest staying away from the chest or the back areas until you realize tattoos are your thing. After you get your tattoo, they will put a bandage on it. It's a strange feeling getting a tattoo because it's kind of hypnotic to some. The best part of the experience is when you take the bandage off later that night. The tattoo will be outlined in your blood just like the tattoo. It's neat but discard it.

You'll need to buy some lotion to keep the tattoo from hurting and messing up. A cheap bottle of lotion will be fine. Be sure, if it's your first one, to place the tattoo in a place where you can hide it. Some people don't like tattoos and you always want the option to cover it up for a job interview or whatever else you may encounter. Have fun!
